Western Forest Products Inc. (Western) is fully committed to the protection of the environment, the prevention of pollution and the sustainability of the resource in its care.

Management will work with our employees, contractors, First Nations, government agencies, customers and other stakeholders to identify and address issues of environmental concern in all aspects of our forest management and solid wood operations.

Management has the specific responsibility to ensure systems and procedures are in place that:

• Assess and evaluate environmental risk on an ongoing basis to set meaningful environmental objectives, targets and establish effective operational controls.
• Allocate sufficient resources and training to ensure continual compliance with environmental responsibilities and commitments.
• Ensure our operations meet or surpass all applicable environmental regulations.
• Monitor environmental performance, audit and report on environmental performance.
• Ensure continual improvement of environmental practices and energy conservation practices.
• Promote energy conservation and environmental awareness among our employees, contractors and suppliers.
• Promote the use of wood products as a positive environmental choice and align certification efforts with market and customer needs.
• Ensure this policy and our environmental performance is communicated to the public as well as our employees and contractors.

• Actively participate and work in support of this policy.
• Ensure they are trained and qualified before starting a task.
• Report environmental spills, releases and/or hazardous occurrences.
• Ensure they follow environmental work procedures and requirements.
