OVERVIEW
Company ->

Western Forest Products is a leading producer of quality appearance and structural wood products from the coast of British Columbia, Canada.

The company’s 3,000 employees are an integral part of WFP. They are known for their knowledge of the fibre base, skills in product manufacturing and dedication to customer service as well as their commitment to safety, community and environmental values.

With annual sales of more than $1.2 billion, WFP has the scale to professionally service its large customer base in North America and around the world. As well, WFP has more than 3.1 million hectares of Crown land under tenure to provide a consistent supply of fibre resources for products.

The company’s tenure includes six Tree Farm Licences and six Forest Licences on timberland owned by the Province of British Columbia as well as approximately 30,000 hectares of private land. WFP’s total allowable annual cut is approximately 7.5 million cubic metres annually. The company actively sells and trades some of the logs it harvests and acquires timber on the open market to provide the right mix for its mills.

The fibre harvested from WFP’s timberland resources is manufactured to meet customer needs at eight sawmills and four value-added facilities on Vancouver Island.

As part of its sustainable forestry program, WFP manages its own nursery and tree improvement program. Every hectare harvested is quickly reforested using a combination of natural regeneration and planting ecologically suitable species. Approximately 8 million trees are planted in a typical year.
