CAMPBELL ISLAND (TFL 25)
Company -> Timberlands -> Stewardship -> Implementation ->

Campbell Island is within the traditional territory of the Heiltsuk First Nation, and the town of Waglisla is home to the Heiltsuk Band Council and the majority of Heiltsuk people. As part of Western Forest Product's operations in the Central Coast and working with Forest Renewal British Columbia's (FRBC) Enhanced Forestry Program, Heiltsuk were trained to conduct stream assessments, fish inventories, hydroseeding and archeological inventory work. In addition, a Heiltsuk logging crew was trained and has been logging on Yeo Island since 1996.

In 1999 the Heiltsuk crew will finish spacing and girdling on Campbell Island and will begin spacing on Yeo Island. The next project will be pruning of the spaced blocks on Campbell Island.
