TFL 25 Approved MP 10 October 2003

TFL 25, held by Western Forest Products Limited covers 250,000 hectares of forests in 5 blocks near Jordan River, Loughborough Inlet, Naka Creek on Vancouver Island, Bella Bella and Kitimat in the Central Coast, and on north Moresby Island in the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii). Every five years a new Management Plan and associated Allowable Annual Cut proposal must be prepared and submitted to B.C.'s Chief Forester for review and approval. Although draft, portions of this plan are available for general review. A final Plan and associated Allowable Annual Cut determination is expected in early late 2003

The Sustainable Forest Management Plan provides objectives, goals and strategies to guide management activities within the defined forest area. The Plan is focused on results and outcomes so that WFP can evaluate performance and continuously improve management practices. The Plan contains measurable parameters in the form of indicators that will monitor the achievement of sustainable forest management objectives over a specified approval period. It is also intended to form the foundation for Forest Stewardship Council and Canadian Standards Association sustainable forestry certifications.
