Douglas Fir's appealing golden-orange colour is enhanced by its remarkably straight, attractive grain. The wood will ”redden“ over time when exposed to light, and it machines to an exceptionally smooth, glossy surface.

Designers, architects and consumers choose WFP’s Douglas Fir products for their clear, tight, straight grain. The highest grades include Clear and Nearly Clear in either vertical or flat grain. Clear and Shop grades are recommended for interior doors, trim and cabinetwork where the finest appearance is important.

WFP Douglas Fir products are also excellent for applications where a fine, knotty material is required, such as soffits, fascia boards, cornices, shelving or “run-to-pattern” for siding and paneling. Depending on criteria, other grades of knotty Douglas Fir products are used primarily in housing and light construction where the wood is valued for its appearance, such as exposed timbers, shelving, paneling, siding, fences and boxes.
