When it comes to the environment, Douglas Fir, like all WFP products, is a solid sustainable choice. Building materials such as metal, cement, stucco and plastic are made from unrenewable resources that leave a large environmental footprint. But the Douglas Fir and other wood fibre WFP uses in its products is certified to international standards to be sustainable and renewable.

As well, the environmental impacts of WFP’s Douglas Fir products are significantly less than those of manufactured or composite building products, which don’t decompose naturally and can spend up to hundreds of years in landfills. By contrast, Douglas Fir, like WFP’s other products, decomposes and naturally returns to the environment. Plus in most building applications it lasts hundreds of years and can be recycled or reused, making it a sustainable choice in any application.
