Yellow Cedar is noted for its durability and longevity. Its natural oils make it highly resistant to decay and insects, including marine borers. It is considerably harder than most commercial softwoods, delivering excellent strength and wear properties in addition to good impact resistance.

The appearance, durability and easy working properties of WFP products made from Yellow Cedar make them suitable for all types of joinery and carpentry where quality, appearance, natural durability and stability are important. This wood seasons well, shows little shrinkage and is easily worked with hand or machine tools; it also takes and holds nails and screws without splitting.
