Forest Stewardship Plan – Stillwater and Port Alberni Operations

Stillwater, and Port Alberni Forest Operations

The Forest Stewardship Plan was prepared and approved by the Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations under the Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA). Unlike Forest Development Plans (FSPs) prepared under the Forest Practices Code, Forest Stewardship Plans do not show specific locations of proposed harvest areas and roads. Instead, the draft FSP identifies larger Forest Development Units (FDUs) within which harvesting and road construction may occur over a five-year period. Forestry activities conducted within FDUs must be consistent with results and strategies specified in the FSP. These results and strategies in turn must be consistent with FRPA and government approved objectives for the management of forest resources in the planning area. Stakeholders were invited to provide information during a 90-day review and comment that ended April 30, 2006.

The following documents were submitted to government for approval:

Cover Letter for July FSP Submission (Jul 14, 2006)
