Forest Stewardship Plan – Mainland Coast Forest Operation

Western Forest Products Inc. within the Campbell River, North Island Central Coast, and Coast Mountains Natural Resource Districts gives notice and invites written comment on a proposed Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP}. The FSP covers the area on the map inset, and includes the following geographic areas: Phillips Arm,Stafford Bay, Heydon Bay, North Broughton Island, Spiller Inlet, Hardy Inlet, Moses Inlet, Smith Inlet, Roderick Island, Pooley Island, Dean Channel, Gardner Canal.

This plan is proposed in order to incorporate the Great Bear Rainforest Order (GBRO}, dated January 28, 2016, that contains elements of ecosystem based management.

The FSP shows the location of Forest Development Units and provides the results and strategies that the FSP holder will follow in relation to the GBRO and Forest and Range Practices Act.

The FSP, when approved, will form the basis for future development of roads and cutblocks, leading to the issuance of cutting permits, which provide authority to harvest.

The proposed FSP can be viewed by appointment at the address below, from May 20, 2016 to July 20, 2016,weekdays 9 am to 5 pm, excluding Holidays, or online at www.westemforest.com.

If unable to review the proposed plan during these times, other arrangements may be able to be made.

Comments must be in writing and be received no later than July 20, 2016, to ensure they are given consideration prior to final submission of the FSP.
