Western Renews Holiday Food Support for Coastal Communities

Building on its longstanding commitment to community support, Western is once again partnering with local organizations across coastal British Columbia and Washington State to help address food insecurity during the holiday season.

Through financial contributions to community-based groups, Western aims to strengthen local efforts to ensure more households have access to nutritious food during a time of year that can be especially challenging.

Local partners emphasized that demand for food assistance has risen steadily, with many organizations reporting record levels of need.

“Christmas Cheer has been a long-standing tradition in the Town of Ladysmith, said Nancy McIntyre, Executive Director, Ladysmith Resources Centre Association. “The program has seen significant growth, serving 155 families in 2022 and expanding to support over 250 families this year. This ongoing increase reflects both the community’s needs and our commitment to ensuring that all families can celebrate the season with dignity and joy. Thank you so much for your generous donation and for thinking of us during these times. Your support means the world to us.”

This holiday contribution continues the company’s long-term commitment towards investing in community needs in the areas where its employees live and work. Through Western’s Community Enhancement Fund, the company provides support to local community events, organizations and initiatives. In addition to community contributions, Western takes pride in generating significant value in the areas in which it operates, including through tax payments, job creation, and the purchase of local goods and services.
