Western Red Cedar trim and fascia boards are prized for their warm, rich look, and deep, natural luster. An incredibly beautiful species, Western Red Cedar grows in a spectrum of hues that range from a light honey yellow to a deep sienna red. The combination of WRC’s grain, texture and colours create a naturally luxurious appearance that no man-made material can replicate.
What’s more, Western Red Cedar is generally considered the ideal material for exterior applications like trim, fascia and siding, as its fibers are rich in natural compounds that act as preservatives, providing the wood with a high resistance to moisture, decay, and insects, and rendering the species (and ultimately your trim and fascia) extremely long-lasting. It is worth noting that First Nations have used Western Red Cedar for centuries for structures and totem poles, some of which are still standing after hundreds of years.
Western Red Cedar is also pitch and resin-free, meaning it readily accepts a wide range of finishes and stains. If preferred, Western Red Cedar can also be left unfinished and will gradually develop a beautiful, rustic silvery-gray patina over time.

A visually stunning species, Hemlock possesses a creamy, pale-honey colour, and clear boards have a consistent, tight grain and luster. Coupled with Hemlock’s unparalleled versatility, the wood allows architects, designers and builders to create elegant, distinctive projects at an economical cost.
Hemlock finishing boards are exceptionally durable and long-lasting, and highly receptive to preservatives, making them an excellent choice for outdoor applications, especially if cost is a consideration.
Although the species is exceptionally strong, Hemlock is very easily workable and is a highly popular choice for applications like moldings and interior woodworking and, in addition to trim and fascia, is often used in joints, veneered interior paneling, furniture, doors, floors and windows.
Sometimes referred to as Western hemlock, it is the single most plentiful tree species on the coast of British Columbia, where it grows primarily along the east and west sides of the Coast Range, from sea level to middle elevations, as well as in the interior wet belt of the Rocky Mountains. All WFP’s Hemlock products are sustainably sourced and harvested and are completely renewable.
A non-resinous species that readily takes virtually any stain or finish extremely well, Hemlock also sands smoothly, glues easily and has a high nail and screw holding ability.
Although Hemlock is naturally durable, a surface coat is recommended to protect the wood and extend its service life.

Douglas-Fir is a beautiful wood species with an incredibly high strength to weight ratio, a warm, soothing colour, and can display an exceptionally straight and fine grain that creates a very elegant and distinguished look.
Douglas-Fir is sustainably sourced from responsibly managed forest land along the southern mainland coast of British Columbia and across Vancouver Island (with the exception of the very northern tip), as well as in the interior of the province.
Known for its combination of durability and fine looks, Douglas-Fir is a highly popular choice to work with as the wood seasons well and dries evenly, and remains straight and true with very little distortion or checking.
In addition to its strength and durability, WFP’s Douglas-Fir timbers are also sought after as an appearance product for use where looks and durability are key.
Indigenous peoples in BC have used Douglas-Fir for centuries in numerous ways including the floors of lodges and sweat lodges, pit cooking fuel, fishing hooks and handles.
Although Douglas-Fir is naturally durable, a surface coat is recommended to protect the wood and extend its service life.

Renowned for its distinctive beauty, Yellow Cedar is the hardest, most durable cedar in the world, yet incredibly easy to mill and work with. Sought the world over for the sustainable, long-term beauty it adds to architectural projects, WFP’s Yellow Cedar Trim is ideally suited for a broad range of uses where both beauty and long-lasting durability against the elements are key factors.
Yellow Cedar boasts a smooth, rich texture and straight grain and generally displays a distinctive honey-yellow colour that creates an elegant and prestigious look. What’s more, Yellow Cedar has naturally occurring rot-repelling tannins and oils make it weather and insect resistant. Like Western Red Cedar, when Yellow Cedar is freshly cut it has a distinct and pleasing aroma, adding another unique element to this highly versatile wood.
WFP’s Yellow Cedar has earned an international reputation for its consistently high quality and unique good looks. In addition to finishing boards like trim and fascia, the species is also used in distinguished architectural applications including Japanese temple construction, interior fittings, and, as it is naturally resistant to the elements, is a leading choice for use around environmentally sensitive areas and water systems as a safe alternative to chemically preserved wood. Yellow Cedar can be stained, or left unfinished to naturally weather to a silver-grey colour.
Western Forest Products’ line of Yellow Cedar trim comes exclusively from responsibly managed and sustainably harvested forest land located on North America’s northern west coast.
