Recreation Access

Port Alberni Forest Operation recognizes and supports the responsible use of forests for recreation activities.  The DFA provides varied recreational opportunities for both local residents and visitors to the area.

Public Access is available throughout the DFA.  Some restrictions are applied, especially in active logging areas, for safety reasons and protection of equipment.  Access is limited during periods of high fire hazard.

We urge you to enjoy the many camping, fishing and hiking accesses of TFL 44 safely and wisely.

Sadly, people are fatally injured every year while operating ATVs on logging roads.  Please note that the same common sense and rules of the road you follow when driving paved public roads apply equally on industrial roads, however, these roads have additional hazards to be aware of.
