Siding made from Western Red Cedar is highly sought after for it’s warm, rich look, and deep, natural luster. An incredibly beautiful species, Western Red Cedar grows in a spectrum of hues that range from a light honey yellow to a deep sienna red. The combination of WRC’s grain, texture and colours create a naturally luxurious appearance that no man-made material can replicate.
Western Red Cedar is considered an ideal material for exterior applications such as siding, as its fibers are rich in natural compounds that act as preservatives, providing the wood with a high resistance to moisture, decay, and insects, and rendering the species (and ultimately your siding) long-lasting. It is worth noting that First Nations have used Western Red Cedar for centuries for structures and totem poles, some of which are still standing after hundreds of years.
Western Red Cedar is also pitch and resin-free, meaning it readily accepts a wide range of finishes and stains.
