An active partner with our communities

Western is committed to being an active partner in strengthening the communities where we live and work.

Western strives to make a positive and lasting impact through our dedicated community giving – whether through or financial contributions or volunteer hours. Western provides logs, lumber and hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to community groups large and small.

To support strong, vibrant communities today and build a more sustainable tomorrow, Western invests in communities where we operate within our focus areas.

BUILDING COMMUNITIES:

Initiatives that foster well-being and bring communities together.

RECONCILIATION:

Initiatives focused on needs that are important to Indigenous communities, including procuring wood to celebrate the Indigenous culture of those communities whose traditional territories Western’s operations overlap.

SUSTAINABILITY:

Investments that support education, awareness and enhance the long-term health of forests and the environment.

CLIMATE ACTION:

Initiatives and programs that provide research and contribute to climate change solutions.

Western prioritizes funding to organizations that:
     •  Align with one or more of our four giving pillars.
     •  Clearly outline anticipated benefits to the community on their funding application and are able to report the impact post-funding

The following are ineligible for funding:
     •  Individuals outside of our established scholarships
     •  For-profit organizations
     •  Private schools
     •  Organizations that discriminate based on race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation
     •  Mass-mailed or non-addressed solicitation

All applications to our Community Enhancement Fund must be received through our online application system.
