Natural wood timbers create a distinctive yet warm and welcoming look for your home, structure or project. Unlike composites, wood possesses unique characteristics that create an individual look and appeal, and no two timbers are absolutely identical- even if they’re taken from the same log. Colour, luster, the wood’s grain and texture all come into play to create each species’ visual appeal.
WFP COAST TIMBERS are held to the highest WFP manufacturing standards to ensure consistent integrity and beauty for outdoor living projects, interior architectural applications and design, custom timber homes, and industrial use.
WFP COAST TIMBERS grow naturally in a spectrum of hues that range from a light honey yellow to a deep sienna red, and are in high demand for their warm, rich tonal qualities, fine grain and deep, natural luster.
Sought after by architects, designers, custom home builders and discerning homeowners alike, the combination of WFP COAST TIMBERS’ grain, texture and colours create a naturally luxurious experience.
WFP COAST TIMBERS are graded for appearance purposes, have a full-resawn rough look on all sides and are available in a wide variety of dimensions to accommodate virtually any use and project.
Douglas-Fir is a beautiful wood species known for its strength, warm, soothing colour, and straight and fine grain that creates an elegant and distinguished look.
Known for its combination of durability and fine looks, Douglas-Fir is a popular choice to work with as the wood seasons well and dries evenly, and remains straight and true with little distortion or checking (naturally occurring cracks that appear in all large timbers).
Due to its high strength, Douglas-Fir is often used structurally in building and construction projects, as it is durable and abrasion-resistant, making it suitable for uses where wear is a factor, such as bridges, wharves, and trestles, log homes and commercial buildings.
In addition to its strength and durability, WFP’s Douglas-Fir timbers are also sought after as an appearance product and are among the finest timbers in the world to use where looks as well as strength are important, such as roof trusses, posts and beams.
Indigenous peoples in BC have used Douglas-Fir for centuries in numerous ways including the floors of lodges and sweat lodges, pit cooking fuel, fishing hooks and handles.

Timbers made from Western Red Cedar are in high demand for their warm, rich tonal qualities, fine grain and deep, natural luster. An incredibly beautiful species, WFP COAST TIMBERS grow naturally in a spectrum of hues that range from a light honey yellow to a deep sienna red. The combination of WFP COAST TIMBERS’ grain, texture and colors create a naturally luxurious appearance that no man-made material can replicate.
Furthermore, Western Red Cedar is ideally suited for indoor and outdoor applications. Western Red Cedar is rich in natural compounds that act as preservatives which make the wood highly resistant to weather, rot, and insects, and render it long-lasting. For centuries First Nations have used Western Red Cedar to construct structures and carve totem poles, some of which are still standing today after hundreds of years. Western Red Cedar is also pitch and resin-free, meaning it readily accepts a wide range of stains and finishes. However, WFP COAST TIMBERS can also be left unfinished and will gradually develop a beautiful, rustic, silvery-gray patina over time.

Known for its distinctive beauty, Yellow Cedar is one of the hardest, most durable cedars in the world, while easy to mill and work with. Sought globally for its long-lasting beauty it brings to decks and outdoor structures, Yellow Cedar is ideal for a wide range of uses where strength and beauty are key factors. The species is also highly workable and is popular in carving and custom work where appearance is a primary consideration.
Yellow Cedar has a smooth, rich texture and straight grain and generally displays a distinctive honey-yellow colour. What’s more, Yellow Cedar has naturally occurring rot-repelling tannins and oils that make it weather and insect resistant. Like Western Red Cedar, when Yellow Cedar is freshly cut it has a distinct aroma, adding another unique element to this versatile wood. Yellow Cedar can be stained, or left unfinished to weather naturally to silvery-grey colour.
WFP’s Yellow Cedar timbers have earned a reputation for their fine looks and high quality, being used in architectural applications including Japanese temple construction, traditional housing, interior fittings, and, as it is naturally resistant to the elements, is a prime choice for use around environmentally sensitive areas and water systems as a safe alternative to chemically preserved wood. Yellow Cedar can be stained, or left unfinished to weather naturally to a silvery-grey colour.
