Forest certification provides assurance to the public and customers that our forests are managed according to globally recognized principles. Independent third parties verify annually that WFP forest operations meet the requirements of the standards.
Currently, some 850,000 ha (2.1 million ac.) of our forests are registered under the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z-809 standard which is recognized by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFCTM) and is Canada’s national standard for Sustainable Forest Management.
In support of forest certification, WFP has committed to the establishment and maintenance of Chains of Custody processes that meet the most recognized international standards: PEFCTM and FSC®. In this way, our customers and the public are assured that our wood products originate from well managed forests that are harvested legally.
