Celebrating Logger Sports and Local Pride

Back to community news

The roar of chainsaws and cheers filled the air in Port McNeill, as the community came together on May 31st to celebrate a cherished tradition — the annual Logger Sports competition. Western was proud to play a part, contributing as a sponsor and rallying a team of volunteers who helped bring the event to life. Volunteers included Ellen Johnson, Christina Main, Jim McDowell, Jo-Anne Papineau and Amanda Tobin, as well as Timberlands summer students Cyril Cook and Trevor Saword.

Several Western team members also rolled up their sleeves to compete, showing off their skills and community spirit. Competitors included Cameron Arthurs, Ally Briscoe, Roger Briscoe, Brad Constantine, Belle Gillespie, Marie-Eve Leclerc, Nick Russell, Keiana Llewellyn and Miguel Cote, with many earning the top spot in an axe or chainsaw event in their division.

Western has a long history of supporting logger sports and other events that bring communities together. Next up, with Western enthusiastically on board: logger sports in Powell River, Campbell River and Duncan.

It’s just one example of how we’re committed to helping build healthy, vibrant communities where we live and work. Learn more about our community involvement and investments.
